The Wamego track team competed in the Abilene Invitational on Friday, with the girls taking third and boys finishing seventh.
The girls’ team took a number of first-place medals, with Tessa Seeburger taking first in the 800-meters, while the 4x400 relay of Brooke Ward, Riley Wilson, Seeberger and Allison Seufert won, and Ward, Wilson, Seeburger and Alexis Pettay won the 4x800. Brooke Woodward won javelin.
Seufert took second in the 800 and Ward finished third. Wilson was sixth in the 400. Pettay was sixth in the long jump and Maddie Vontz was sixth.
The boys’ team was highlighted by two second-place finishes, as Matt Scherer was second in the 3,200 and Cannon Woodward, Scherer, Anthony Klecan and Colby Nelsen took second in the 4x800.
Woodward was fourth in the 800 and Ethan Artzer was fourth in the 1,600 and fifth in the 3,200.
Chris Willette was fourth in the 110 hurdles and Joey Holley was fourth in the 300 hurdles.
The 4x100 relay of Kyle May, John Sullivan, Joe Sullivan and Ethan Thomas took fourth. Joe Sullivan, John Sullivan, Klecan and Ethan Thomas were fifth in the 4x400. Joe Sullivan was fourth in the triple jump.
