Wamego boys win NCKL cross country meet
The Wamego boys’ cross country team won the NCKL title by 25 points on Thursday in Abilene.
The Red Raider girls took second place in a race that was dominated by Clay Center.
The boys finished with 30 points, while Clay Center was second at 55 and Abilene was third at 97.
Jacob Davis led the Wamego boys with a third-place finish with a time of 17:24.6. Matt Scherer and Kent Chrest were right behind him in fourth and fifth respectively, while Ryan Bates took eighth.
Gavin Alexander came in 10th and Colby Nelsen was the final scorer for Wamego on 11th. Although Ethan Artzer’s 14 th-place finish did not effect the Red Raiders score, the top 15 runners in each race were named All-League, and he received those honors.
Clay Center won the girl’s meet, while Wamego scored 54 for second and Concordia was at 58 for third.
Allison Seufert won the race with a time of 15:04.1 and Alexis Pettay was fourth at 15:23.5. Elise Wolf was the final All-League performer in 14th. Giulia Rinadli took 22nd, Jordyn Braun was 26th, and Jordan Carley was 27th.
