Wamego boys win at state cross country

In the 4A race, the Wamego boys’ team capped its season with a team championship on its home course.

The team scored 69 to win, five points ahead of second-place Mulvane. Jordan Routh was the top finisher in a time of 16:24.8 in seventh place.

But it was the strength of the team behind him, running in a pack and finishing 17-20 were Bradley Borger (17:02.9), Brent Patton (17:03.4), Trenton Butler (17:05.3) and Colton Butler (17:05.7). Ryan Bates (17:18.9) finished in 26th, with Jacob Routh (17:25.8) in 34th.

The girls’ team came in eighth place as a team, with Allison Seufert (16:06.3) in 15th place leading the way.
