The United Way of Riley County will announce its 2012 campaign fundraising goal during its kickoff event Saturday at the Manhattan Town Center plaza.
The start of the campaign will be commemorated with a 9 a.m. two-mile community walk designed to highlight agencies that will benefit from the upcoming United Way campaign. Walk t-shirts are $15 and can be purchased at the local United Way office prior to or at the event .
The 13 agencies receiving funds this year are ATA Bus, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club of Manhattan, CASA, Catholic Charities, Community Health Ministry, Crisis Center, Flint Hills Community Clinic, Housing and Credit Counseling, Kansas Legal Services, Manhattan Emergency Shelter, RSVP and Shepherd’s Crossing.
The United Way serves Riley, Pottawatomie, Clay, Marshall and Washington counties as well as the western half of Wabaunsee County.
