A vehicle reported as stolen from Manhattan was found on fire in Jackson County Monday, officials said. Officer Matthew Droge said Heather Bemberry, 39, Manhattan, reported that her 2005 Dodge Durango had been stolen from the 400 block of Walters Drive in the early morning hours on Monday.

The Durango was located by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in Jackson County, which borders Pottawatomie County.

Droge said the fire destroyed the vehicle, valued at about $12,000. The incident is still under investigation and a suspect has not been identified.
