Valley Heights, Wamego sweep



At Baileyville, the Valley Heights girls used a dominant second half to pull away from B&B Friday night, winning 50-36.

Valley Heights (9-3, 5-1 TVL) was down two at halftime, but outscored B&B (11-3, 3-2) by 10 in the third quarter and six in the fourth to win comfortably.

Brandi Roepke scored 20 points to lead all scorers, with Lesley Frohberg adding 10.

WAMEGO 55, SABETHA 29

At Sabetha, Wamego (12-1, 4-0 NCKL) rolled against Sabetha, outscoring them 17-2 in the second quarter to effectively end any chance of an upset. Rikki Alderson led the Red Raiders with 15 points, including three 3s, while Michelle Wahl scored 11. The Page sisters combined for 18 points.

 

RILEY CO. 62, WABAUNSEE 28

At Alma, the Falcons (8-5, 4-1 Mid-East) rolled against Wabaunsee (4-8, 1-4) on Friday night, running away with the score. Riley Co. hosts Marysville on Tuesday, while Wabaunsee travels to Lyndon on Tuesday. Individual scoring was not available.

 

WETMORE 51, BLUE VALLEY 44

At Randolph, Blue Valley fell to Wetmore on Friday night at home. The Rams (0-11, 0-5 TVL) kept it close, but couldn’t get over the hump for their first win against Wetmore (7-5, 3-2). Individual scoring was not available.

 

AXTELL 47, FRANKFORT 42

At Axtell, the Eagles managed to beat Frankfort at home on Friday. Axtell (6-7, 2-4 TVL) plays at Clifton-Clyde on Friday, while Frankfort travels to Onaga on Tuesday. Individual scoring was not available.

 

TROY 50, ROCK CREEK 43

From Thursday at the Hiawatha Invitational, Rock Creek (5-7, 3-3 Mid-East) fell in the semifinals to Troy. Troy outscored the Mustangs 11-4 in the second quarter to take the lead for good and keep Rock Creek from rallying down the stretch. Rock Creek falls into the third-place game, facing Marysville.

 

Boys

VALLEY HEIGHTS 42, BAILEYVILLE B&B 35

At Baileyville, Valley Heights (9-3, 5-1 TVL) overcame an early deficit and used a dominant third quarter to beat B&B (9-5, 4-1) on Friday.

Charles Musil scored 12 points to lead all scorers, with Tanner Trimble scoring 11.

 

WAMEGO 49, SABETHA 37

At Sabetha, Wamego (10-3, 4-0 NCKL) took a seven-point lead to halftime and was able to keep Sabetha (7-5) at arm’s length for the rest of the game.

Isaac Poe scored 15 points in the win to lead the Red Raiders, with Brady Hemphill chipping in nine. Marshall Wethington finished the night with eight points.

 

ROCK CREEK 59, ST. MARYS 40

At St. Marys, the Mustangs (11-2, 6-0 Mid-East) took care of business against St. Marys (2-10, 1-4), staying in first place ahead of Silver Lake. Rock Creek took a 35-21 lead at halftime and never looked back.

Ryan Schneider led all scorers with 22 points, Jacob Miller chipping in 13. Rock Creek faces Riley Co. on Friday.

 

RILEY CO. 50, WABAUNSEE 42

At Alma, the Falcons (3-10, 1-5 Mid-East) got their first league win against Wabaunsee on Friday night, outlasting the Chargers (4-8, 1-4) on their home court. Riley Co. hosts Marysville on Tuesday. Individual scoring was not available.

 

BLUE VALLEY 62, WETMORE 54

At Randolph, Blue Valley (2-9, 1-4 TVL) got its second win of the season against Wetmore (1-10, 0-5), getting revenge for a 70-63 loss in the TVL tournament last week that serves as Wetmore’s only win of the year. Individual scoring was not available.

 

FRANKFORT 54, AXTELL 44

At Axtell, Frankfort (8-6, 3-3 TVL) beat Axtell (8-6, 0-6) on its home floor Friday night. Individual scoring was not available. The Wildcats travel to Onaga (9-4, 4-1) on Tuesday.
