Valley Heights 30, Valley Falls 24

At Blue Rapids, Cole Maddox ran for 182 yards and Derek Trimble added another 172 as Valley Heights edged Valley Falls 30-24 in overtime on Friday night.

Maddox rushed 14 times and added a touchdown to his night, while Trimble rushed 11 times for his total and scored two touchdowns.

New quarterback Gage Woodyard, who moved from receiver, rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns. He did fumble twice in his debut at QB, but only turned it over one time.

Trimble led defensively with 13 tackles and an interception, while Maddox had 12 tackles and Keaton DeWalt added 10.

The Mustangs (1-0) will go on the road this week to play at St. Marys (0-1). The Bears lost to Centralia at home, 16-0.
