Two services planned for Manhattan woman

By The Mercury

Funeral services have been arranged for former Manhattan High student body president Naomi McClendon.

McClendon, 18, died early Sunday morning after falling from a 10th-floor apartment balcony near Arizona State University in Tempe, where she was a freshman.

Services for her will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Westview Community Church.

Also, a candlelight vigil organized by MHS students will start at 5 p.m. Sunday at City Park.

Friends are also raising money on, a crowd-funding website, to help with the cost of burial and services. The donation page can be found on the website by searching for Naomi McClendon’s name.

As of Wednesday morning, $2,935 had been raised for the family.

McClendon’s death, which Tempe police reported as involving alcohol, is under investigation.

Authorities have said there could be an arrest if they determine that someone gave the alcohol to McClendon.
