Two salesmen arrested for no permits

By Katherine Wartell

Two door-to-door salesmen were arrested over the weekend for soliciting without a permit. Both men said they were working for Midwest Circulation LLC.

Lt. Josh Kyle said officers arrested Nicholas Scott, 20, Harrah, Okla., on Saturday after they received a report that Scott was being pushy with a resident at 3106 Heritage Ct. Upon making contact, officers discovered that Scott did not have a Manhattan city permit to sell magazines.

Scott was arrested on $128 bond, but has since been released.

Kyle said that officers arrested Christopher Selby, 24, Midwest City, Okla., on Sunday after they received a complaint from a resident in Ogden.

Officers also discovered that Selby did not have a proper license and arrested him on $500 bond.

He remains confined to the Riley County Jail.

Kyle said both men were arrested rather than cited because they do not have local addresses.

He said officers could not determine whether the sales were a scam.
