Two fires being investigated

Riley County Rural Fire and the Manhattan Fire Department are investigating two fires that occurred last week.

In the first incident, firefighters were called to 827 Colorado St. for the report of a fire at the residence, owned by Scott and Kara Lee Ridder of Olsburg, Lt. Josh Kyle said.

In that incident, Kyle said, there was $1,500 worth of damage to the siding of the house. The fire was reported on Oct. 18 at 10:40 p.m.

In the second incident, firefighters were called to south of 5770 S. 32nd St. in Riley County, for a report of an abandoned barn on fire. Lt. Josh Kyle said the incident was reported Friday at about 5:40 p.m.

Both fires are being investigated as to their causes.
