Two assaults in Aggieville

By The Mercury

Police reported that two separate but related assaults occurred early Saturday morning in and near Bushwhacker Saloon in Aggieville.

In the first incident, which occurred at about 1: 30 a.m., Avery Oliver, 23, Fort Riley, said that he was on the dance floor when he was confronted by an unknown suspect. He told police that during an argument, the suspect pulled a gun on him. Lt. Josh Kyle said no arrests have been made, but police are following up on investigative leads.

In the second incident, Kyle said police were dispatched to the parking lot across from Bushwhacker’s around 1:30 a.m., for a fight that was reportedly occurring between two men. Kyle said witnesses on the scene told police that one of the men possibly had a gun.

He said police patted the suspect, Tyrone Wells, 25, Fort Riley, and found a Smith and Wesson 9-mm pistol. Police arrested Wells for aggravated assault and criminal use of a firearm, for carrying a weapon while under the influence, and identified the victim as Wallace James III, 27, Manhattan.

Wells was arrested on $3,000 bond.
