Two men were arrested over the weekend for battery against a law enforcement officer in Aggieville.

Early Saturday morning, officers arrested Haider Mehr, 21, Fort Riley, for battery against a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct, after Mehr allegedly punched an officer in the chest.

Lt. Stephen Boyda said the officer had been trying to break up a fight between Mehr and another person at approximately 2:17 a.m. The officer did not have any injuries.

Mehr was arrested on $1,000 bond but has been released from the Riley County Jail.

In the second incident, at approximately 1:24 a.m. on Sunday, officers arrested Richard Rice, 26, Junction City, for obstruction of the legal process, after Rice allegedly started kicking at officers who were escorting him to the Aggieville RCPD substation.

Rice was later released on $1,500 bond.
