Truck driver collides with cows

A semi-truck driver was injured after he struck four cows in Clay County Tuesday night and his vehicle ended up in a ditch.

The accident was reported at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. The driver, Matthew Salter, 31, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, was driving south on Kansas Highway 15, about 17 miles south of Clay Center, when it struck four cows and came to a stop in the east ditch. Salter was driving a 1998 Peterbilt semi-truck with trailer. He was taken to Clay County Medical Center.
