Triathlon coming to Manhattan

By The Mercury

The “I Love Manhattan Triathlon” will take place in Manhattan on Aug. 19, beginning at 7 a.m. at Tuttle Creek State Park.

It will be a sprint triathlon with a beach start to the 750-meter swim, followed by a 12.4 mile bike course and ending with a 3.1 mile run.

Oz Endurance will host the event, as they provide timing servies for triathlons, duathlons, running events, cycling events and other times events. They serve Kansas and the surrounding states.

Patrick Todd, founder of Oz Endurance, lives in El Dorado. He hopes to organize eight races throughout the state of Kansas and time more than 35 events in Kansas and surrounding states in 2012.

Oz Endurance wants to make the “I Love Manhattan Triathlon” an annual event, as they anticipate at least 200 participants for the inagural event.
