Thanks, Manhattan, ‘for the best year of my life’

By Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

I am an exchange student from a city on the coast of Spain. The first thing everyone asks me when I tell them I am from Europe is, “Why did you come here?” I never really knew the answer to this question, but now, after 10 months in the United States, I realize I decided to come here to learn about myself. I am proud to say all the things I have learned and experienced during this year have made me a better person.

My world has been expanded significantly, and I want to thank everyone. Thank you to my family Eric and Lisa Ross and sisters Madison and Hannah; you were the heart of my time here, and you welcomed me and treated me like one of your own; I felt like I was at home.

Thank you to my friends from choir, cross country, track, the musical, school classes and AFS, especially, my Cheeta Girls. I’m so lucky to have people in my life who make saying goodbye so hard. Thank you to Manhattan High, the principal, the teachers and my liaison.

I will never forget Manhattan; I will be forever in debt to all of you; I recommend that whoever is reading this get involved with any of the AFS studying abroad or hosting programs.

Thank you all for the best year of my life!
