Symphony plans holiday concert

By The Mercury

TOPEKA—The Capitol Federal Topeka Symphony Holiday Concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, in White Concert Hall on the Washburn University campus.  Guest Conductor Jeremy Starr will be on the podium for a program featuring a wide variety of seasonal favorites.

Serving as guest soloists will be pianist Rich Ridenour and his son Brandon Ridenour. Many TSO concert goers will remember Rich Ridenour from his upbeat and entertaining performance with the TSO in 2010. Joining him this year is his son, Brandon, who currently is lead trumpet with the Canadian Brass.

“We’re delighted to welcome Rich back to Topeka along with Brandon this season,” General Manager Kathy Maag said. “They are great entertainers and I know everyone will love this performance which includes serious as well as humorous pieces.”

Immediately following the concert, the audience is invited to greet the soloists, guest conductor, and members of the orchestra at a reception hosted by Capitol Federal in the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center.

Season ticket packages are still available and start at $59.  New subscribers who purchase at least three concerts receive 50% off the regular subscription price.  A Flex Pass, good for any combination of four admissions, is also available for $115.  Single tickets for this concert are $32, $27 and $22, with full-time students at half price.
