Suspicious fire at Superior Auto Salvage

By Katherine Wartell

Police reported that a suspicious fire started at Superior Auto Salvage, 2801 W. 56th Ave., on Feb. 17, between 11:50 and 11:55 p.m.

Lt. Josh Kyle said Steven Erichsen, a neighbor of the business, reported the fire, which occurred in the back lot salvage yard.

Kyle said at least five junk vehicles were on fire, including a 1983 Saab 900, a 1988 Chevrolet Beretta, a 1993 Dodge Dynasty, a 1989 Mazda RX-7 and a 1999 Ford Contour.

Kyle said officers filed an information report because they couldn’t substantiate that a crime occurred, but that the fire is suspicious. The case is under investigation.

The total loss was $5,000.
