Suspicious activity reportedly directed at student

The principal of Anthony Middle School is warning parents of suspicious activity in the northwest part of town after a young girl was offered a ride by an unknown male after she got off of the bus.

Vickie Kline said the only description they have is of a “young white male,” possibly in his early 20s, in a black or blue mid-sized truck.

She said that as the girl was walking home, the man stopped, opened the passenger door and asked if she wanted a ride. She said no and ran home, and he left the area.

Kline said the Riley County Police Department was notified and is aware of the incident.

Kline said she encourages parents to speak with their children about safe pedestrian habits while walking anywhere in the community, always being aware of surroundings, and knowing where to find assistance.
