Students win math contest

Amanda Arnold Elementary has some math whizzes among its students.

Shawn Meng, a fourth grade student, placed first out of 2,177 U.S. students participating in his grade level in the Math Kangaroo competition.

Math Kangaroo is an annual grades 1-12 international mathematics competition.

Participants had 75 minutes to complete the multiple choice test.

Amanda Arnold also had two 3rd-grade students place in the top 15 in their grade level out of 2,340 students nationwide. Ava Chae placed first in Kansas and fifth in the nation.

Fahanna Datta placed third in Kansas and 14th in the nation.
