A K-State Salina student safely landed one of the university’s planes in a wheat field Tuesday afternoon after running out of fuel during a solo flight.

Kara Godsil, a senior in the Professional Pilot program from Kansas City, Kan., didn’t suffer any injuries as she made the emergency landing near the intersection of K-177 and German Road, about seven miles north of Alta Vista. The plane didn’t appear to be seriously damaged.
