The Manhattan High School principal sent a notice to parents Thursday about an incident between a student and an employee.

Principal Greg Hoyt told parents via email that an altercation occurred at MHS East Campus in the school’s restroom Wednesday.

Officer Matthew Droge of the Riley County Police Department said the victim was Michelle Dillard, 22, a social studies teacher.

Droge said Destany Norman-Shuck, 16, was taken into custody at the North Central Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Junction City in connection with the incident.

Hoyt said in the email that neither party was seriously injured during the altercation.

School personnel were not immediately available to discuss the incident.
