A Manhattan High School student was arrested for aggravated battery and reckless driving Wednesday after he reportedly hit another student with his car in the parking lot of the west campus while allegedly goofing off with friends.

Lt. Josh Kyle said Benjamin Bartlett, 18, was driving through the lot with an unrestrained passenger on his roof when he accidentally struck another student, a 16-year-old female.

Kyle said the girl had minor injuries.

He said it is not known what happened to the unrestrained passenger, but there is no indication the person was hurt.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Bartlett has since been released from the Riley County Jail on $2,000 bond.
