String of burglaries in Junction City

By The Mercury

The Junction City Police Department is warning citizens of a recent rash of residential burglaries in the northeast area of Junction City.

Lt. Jeff Childs said the areas include the 200 block of West Home Street and the 400 block of West 18th Street.

Childs said a possible suspect seen in the area of the Home Street incident has been described as a 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10-inch man, approximately 200 pounds, with short black hair. He was wearing dark-colored clothing.

It is believed the suspect is knocking on doors and forcing entry in to the residence by kicking the door in when no one responds.

To date, these incidents have taken place at apartment complexes during daylight morning hours. The department asks that anyone who has witnessed suspicious behavior or has any information on the identity of the suspect contact the Junction City Police Department or the Junction City/Geary County Crime Stoppers at 762-TIPS (8477).
