Start making plans for the New Year’s Eve ball drop

By The Mercury

New Year’s Eve and 2013 are just around the corner. Here are some options for you to ring in the new year.

Watch the K-State men’s basketball team take on South Dakota at 1 p.m. Monday at Bramlage Coliseum.

Spend the evening Under the Big Top at the Manhattan Arts Center New Year’s Eve Party from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The annual party features DJ Dave Lewis, heavy hors d’oeuvres, dancing and a champagne toast at midnight. MAC is within walking distance of Aggieville so you can see the Aggieville apple drop and come back to the warmth and friendly atmosphere of MAC for your champagne toast. For tickets and more information, visit http://www.manhattanarts.org or call (785) 537-4420.

Or spend the evening under the stars at the tenth annual Little Apple New Year’s Eve in Aggieville. This year’s event features Reckless Rebellion and DJ Stix beginning at 10 p.m. in front of Varney’s Book Store. Again this year, there will be a laser light show and fireworks by PFB Pyros at midnight right after the “little apple” drops on the Varney’s marquee. The fireworks are choreographed to music and will be shot from the roofs of businesses.
