St. Marys girl reports van following her

ST. MARYS — An 11-year-old girl reported she was chased by a white van in St. Marys around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, but she managed to run home.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office was notified about the incident, in which it was reported the girl was walking in an alley when she saw a white van turn and follow her.

According to a press release from Sheriff Greg Riat, the girl went down Palmer Street, and the van went after her.

The driver reportedly said, “Hey, come here,” to the girl.

The incident happened in the Lasley and Third and Fourth street area.

The driver of the vehicle was described as a white a man in his late twenties with a short, brown goatee. He was wearing black sunglasses and a black baseball cap with no logo according to Riat’s report.

The van was described as a white Chevrolet with three windows on each side and a blue Nebraska license plate. The rear windows are believed to be tinted, and the passenger side door had dents and scratches.

The sheriff’s office is asking to speak with the driver.
