St. Marys 43, Valley Heights 12

At Blue Rapids, the Valley Heights Mustangs stayed close with St. Marys early on Friday, trailing 16-12 after the first quarter. But the Mustangs wouldn’t score again, losing 43-12 to St. Marys at home.

The Mustangs got a 56-yard run from Derek Trimble and a 70-yard pass from Trimble to Elijah Smith in the first half.

St. Marys led 30-12 at halftime, and added a pair of scores in the third and fourth quarters.

St. Marys running back Sojuan Turentine led the way for St. Marys, finishing with 20 carries for 245 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Kasey Clark went 6-of-9 for 100 yards and rushed for three touchdowns.

The Mustangs will be at home next week for a second consecutive week, hosting Onaga.
