A week after leaving a game with a concussion, Darren Sproles made a nice return to the gridiron Sunday.
Kansas State’s all-time leading rusher ran for a 3-yard touchdown and then caught a 28-yard pass for a touchdown, both in the second quarter, as the New Orleans Saints coasted to a 49-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Sproles rushed five times for 12 yards in the game, and hauled in seven passes for 76 yards.
A pair of former Wildcats went head-to-head in the Philadelphia Eagles’ 27-13 win over the Green Bay Packers. Eagles’ running back Bryce Brown rushed four times for 11 yards, in a game that was paced by Philadelphia’s passing attack.
Packers’ wide receiver Jordy Nelson had six catches for 56 yards in the team’s first game without starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Backup Seneca Wallace was also hurt, leading to Green Bay finishing up the game with Scott Tolzien.
Wide receiver Chris Harper was inactive for the game.
Rookie linebacker Arthur Brown had four tackles for the Baltimore Ravens in a 20-17 overtime win against the AFC North-leading Cincinnati Bengals. It was the best game of Brown’s career so far, and he even laid a hit on Bengals’ quarterback Andy Dalton.
Former All-American Terence Newman had five tackles and an interception for the Bengals in the loss. It was his second interception this season to go along with 45 tackles.
