A Fort Riley soldier died after being struck by a vehicle at the base on Tuesday.

Spc. Ryan T. Christensen, 29, of Layton, Utah, was a petroleum supply specialist with the Company A, 101st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

He was killed at a Fort Riley motor pool, in a parking area for a unit’s fleet of vehicles.

Further details about the Christensen’s death were not released, pending an investigation by Fort Riley personnel.

“Two families suffered a great loss yesterday – Ryan’s and ours,” said Col. John W. Reynolds II, a commander for the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team.

“We continue to provide support to both as we begin to come to terms with this tragedy.”
