Soldier in custody

By The Mercury

An allegedly suicidal soldier was taken into custody Friday morning after police said he allegedly took a handgun from an acquaintance’s residence on Crestwood Drive Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Josh Kyle said the resident reported that at about 4:40 p.m. Thursday, a handgun had been stolen from their apartment. But Kyle said it was later determined that the handgun had been allegedly taken by a suicidal acquaintance, who police indicated was an active-duty soldier.

Officers responded to Crestwood Drive Friday morning for possible shots fired, but Kyle said there was no indication of that and the soldier is in custody.
