Soldier found dead

By The Mercury

The body of a 24-year-old man identified as a Fort Riley soldier was discovered in a Manhattan apartment Friday morning. Police said they discovered the body, which was being formally listed as an unattended death, when they were called to an apartment at 3305 Kensington, Apt. 4. They indicated that they did not believe foul play was involved.

The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin. Assuming confirmation of the details, the soldier would become the fifth from the post to die under non-combat circumstances since mid-March. Three of the fatalities took place in Afghanistan and a fourth on post.
