Small explosive set off

A small explosive was set off in a dumpster outside of apartments at 1844 Anderson Ave. Monday evening, but no injuries or damage were reported.

Capt. Kurt Moldrup said an officer who was patrolling on foot heard the explosion at approximately 8:30 p.m. and observed the resulting puff of smoke from the area of the apartments.

Moldrup said the officer saw a person then enter the apartment building.

The officer discovered that a “Drano bomb,” composed of household chemicals had been made using a plastic Coke bottle, Moldrup said.

Moldrup said there is a person of interest in the case, but no arrests have yet been made.
