Silver Lake finishes softball season perfect

Silver Lake capped its softball season Friday with a 6-1 victory over Salina’s Sacred Heart in the Class 3A state championship at Twin Oaks Sports Complex — finishing undefeated.

Megan Deiter got the win for Silver Lake (24-0).

Sacred Heart, which scored its only run of the day in the third inning, finished the season 21-3.

Marysville ended its softball season with a 12-0 third-place win over Lyons-Chase County in the 3A consolation game.

Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan captured the 3A state baseball championship Friday with a 10-0 victory over Silver Lake at Tointon Family Stadium.

Drew Dawson picked up the win on the mound, while Evan Burdiek took the loss for Silver Lake.

Ryan Cedeno, Austin Kratz each doubled for Pittsburg-St. Mary’s, while Dawson helped his own cause with a home run.

Wichita Independent finished third in 3A with a 10-8 victory over Salina-Sacred Heart in the consolation game.

Andrew Reidmiller was the winning the pitcher, while Scott Spiker earned the save. Blake Jones took the loss for Sacred Heart.

Dalton Dooley had a pair of doubles and a triple for Independent.
