Silkauskas second in men’s long jump

By Brady Bauman

Mantas Silkauskas had a short and sweet go in the long jump. The senior was the second athlete to jump in the event and after leading the crowd into a pre-jump clap on the runway, Silkauskas launched himself 7.84 meters. The Lithuania native passed on the rest of his attempts, and his first jump held up for second place.

Rovelto said Silkauskas had a nagging groin injury going into the meet, but was still able to impress.

“That was exactly what we hoped for,” Rovelto said. “I knew what he was capable of doing.”
