Sign-up now open for Manhattan CC Club

By The Mercury

The Manhattan Cross Country Club is now accepting registration for the 2013 fall season. The club provides age-appropriate distance running for youth in grades 8 and younger.

The six-week program begins on Monday, Aug. 26. The club meets Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Northeast Community Park or Anneberg Park.

The club is open to all youth, regardless of where they live. In 2012, the Club had 107 members and hosted the Body First School Fitness Challenge, which had more than 1,200 participants and awarded $10,000 to area schools.

Membership costs $10, which includes entry into the Body First School Fitness Challenge on Sept. 28 and the Riley County Invitational on Oct. 5. Membership also includes a team t-shirt, team activities, local discounts, and more. Scholarships to cover the membership fee may be available.
