To the Editor:
Only in Kansas…
A drunken driver who hit and killed multiple people was sentenced to probation and rehabilitation. Shortly there-after, a Kansas judge sentenced a man who killed his own cat to two years in prison. Have we now reached the point where a cat is more important to society than human beings?
Second, a dogfight and its breakup at the recent Shrine Circus in Topeka received way too much publicity.
The Shrine Circus has brought joy and laughter to untold thousands of northeast Kansans over the years. I fail to recall PETA or the Humane Society of the United States ever spon-soring a similar positive event in our community.
The unasked and unanswered question is how would YOU stop a dogfight, which can be vicious, dangerous and bloody? Have PETA or the Humane Society ever dared criticize the brutal method employed in livestock slaughter for kosher markets?
I’m not a Shriner or a Mason. I am an old farmer.
