Shooting suspect is in custody

One man was wounded and another taken into custody during a shooting incident here Sunday afternoon.

Riley County said Marcus Cooper, whose address was not immediately available, was shot near the intersection of N. Manhattan Avenue and Flint Hills Place at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Sgt. Luke Breault said officers arrested Tyrell Brown, 1420 Flint Hills Pl., No. 3303, in connection with the shooting. A second man, identified as Clayton Burgess, was also listed as a victim in the case. Burgess had notified police of the shooting.

Brown, who was on the scene when police arrived, was held on two counts of attempted second degree murder

Brealut said Riley County EMS transported Cooper to Mercy Regional Health Center, where authorities said it was expected that he will survive.

Brown is confined to the Riley County Jail.
