A semi-truck and trailer were heavily damaged Tuesday evening in a blaze that apparently started in a refrigeration unit on the trailer.
Firefighters responded to Fifth Street and El Paso Lane, near Fort Riley Boulevard, at approximately 6 p.m. for reports that the semi and trailer were on fire. When crews arrived on the scene, officials said, the cab and refrigeration unit were fully involved.
According to the fire report log, crews determined that the fire had started from equipment failure in the refrigeration unit.
The damage is estimated to be at $151,000.
Officials said a semi parked about 8-feet from the scene also had some fire damage estimated at approximately $1,000.
