Police are on the lookout for a burglar who stole, among other items, a car from a Bluemont Avenue residence in the early morning hours on Sunday.

Officer Matthew Droge said the unknown suspect stole a 2009 Dodge Challenger from 1031 Bluemont Avenue, after stealing the keys to the car from inside the residence while several people slept inside between 2 and 4 a.m.

The car was recovered parked in the 2100 block of Sloan Street later in the morning. It belongs to Derek Newell, 22, 1031 Bluemont Ave.

The unknown suspect also stole a Garmin GPS, an Xbox 360 game console, and an Xbox 360 game from Newell. The total loss, including the car, was $25,675.

Other items of value reportedly stolen from the residence were a Coach purse and a $700 Samsung laptop, stolen from residents Lindsey Gray, 23, and Kevin Orr, 24.

The incident is under investigation.
