Screening of ‘Oz’ to benefit Habitat

By The Mercury

Manhattan Area Habitat for Humanity (Habitat) and The Columbian Theatre are hosting a free screening of the original film “The Wizard of Oz” at 4 p.m. on Saturday at The Columbian Theatre in downtown Wamego.

This family-friendly event will include refreshments and children’s activities. The event is open to the public and donations are encouraged. All donations received will help fund Habitat’s 24th home build at 708 Pine Street in Wamego.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz,” and Warner Bros. has partnered with Habitat for Humanity International for a campaign titled, “There’s No Place Like Home.” The campaign raises funds to provide affordable housing to low-income families and is a keystone in celebrating the 75th anniversary of “The Wizard of Oz.”
