Royals’ TV ratings surge in June

The Kansas City Royals announced Tuesday that viewership on FOX Sports Kansas City increased by 29 percent in June vs. May.

FOX Sports Kansas City was the No. 1 channel in prime time the last nine nights the Royals played in the month in of June.

According to Nielsen Media Research data, the 26 games televised games on FOX Sports Kansas City in June averaged a 6.5 household rating, compared to May’s average of of 5.1.

FOX Sports Kansas City dominated prime time viewing, ranking as the No. 1 channel in Kansas City on 13 of the 15 nights the Royals played in June, including the last nine in a row.

Ratings especially spiked during the Royals’ recent homestand — nine games against the Mariners, Dodgers and Angels — that averaged a 7.6. The June 22 game against Seattle earned the highest rating of the season (9.2).

For the season, Royals’ telecasts on FOX Sports Kansas City are averaging a 5.8 rating — just 1 percent behind last season’s record-setting pace.
