Roommates arrested after fight

Two roommates were arrested early Wednesday morning following a reported physical altercation at their Manhattan apartment that left one of the men hospitalized.

Officers were first called to 122 N. 11th Street, Apt. 5, a little before 3:15 a.m., where they initially arrested Matthew Alonzo, 25, for aggravated battery in connection with significant facial injuries suffered by roommate John Garcia Jr., 25, Officer Matthew Droge said.

Garcia was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center for treatment, where he was arrested at about 5 a.m. for aggravated assault. Reportedly, Droge said, Garcia threatened Alonzo with a knife after Alonzo allegedly battered him.

Alonzo is confined to the Riley County Jail on $10,000 bond. Garcia is confined on $5,000 bond.
