Roger Waldean Weeks, 64, of Westmoreland, formerly of Louisville, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at his home. He was a longtime resident of the area.
Roger was born Aug. 14, 1949, in Marysville, the son of Frank H. and Jessie Louise Hale Weeks. He graduated from high school in Connell, Wash., in 1968. He then served in the United States Army. He was stationed in Vietnam as a personnel driver.
Roger worked in the maintenance department at Jeffrey Energy Center for 18 years until being medically retired. Prior to Jeffrey, he was a mechanic at the local Ford dealership. He continued to do auto mechanics from his shop. Roger was an avid KU and Ford fan. He loved to play pinochle and go hunting and fishing. He always found enjoyment while riding his Harley. Roger was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Roger married Shelley Jarvis on Feb. 14, 1971 in Mesa, Wash. She survives.
He is also survived by his mother, Louise, Fostoria; his sons, Brian Weeks and Coty Weeks, both of Louisville and Jason Weeks (Staci), Wamego; his sisters, LaVonne McGuire, Westmoreland, Shirley Cox (Dan), Fostoria, Diana Reves (Dan), Westmoreland, Debbie Lundgren (David), Westmoreland, and Penny Nelson (Roger), Randolph; his brothers, Donald Weeks (Brenda), Junction City, Randy Weeks, Westmoreland, and Rick Weeks, Louisville; three grandchildren, Brock, MaKinnley and Jaidyn. He was preceded in death by is his brother, Larry Weeks, a niece, Sherri, and nephews, Douglas, Roger, Allen and Mike.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. The Rev. Tony Mattia will be officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Louisville Cemetery.
Mr. Weeks will lie in-state on Wednesday starting at 2 p.m., and the family will greet friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., They suggest memorial contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice, and those may be sent in care of the mortuary.
