Rock Creek wrestling competes at league

The Rock Creek wrestling team was in Silver Lake for the Mid-East League tournament on Friday where the Mustangs finished in the tie for fourth place.

Rock Creek looked strong after the first two rounds, jumping out to an early lead over the pack and slipping into second where it stayed for most of the night. The squad was led by seniors Jesse Correll, Justin Ward and Marc Reiss and freshman Tim Reed, who all made it to the finals in their respective weight classes.

In the final round, Rock Creek slipped out of second and wound up tying for fourth.

“We had to have everyone step up and win some matches, and it just didn’t happen in the later rounds of this tournament,” Rock Creek head coach Dan Pray said.

Rock Creek will travel to Sabetha for the Class 3-2-1A regional meet this Friday and Saturday.
