Rock Creek softball finishes 2014 season

The Rock Creek Mustangs were defeated in the semifinals of the Rossville Regional last week. 

Rock Creek lost to Rossville, 8-6.  Rossville pounced early with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. 

Rock Creek could not get much going offensively, although it had its chances, stranding nine runners in the game, including threatening in the seventh with bases loaded and eight batters with the opportunity to contribute. 

Abbie Plummer led all hitters with a 3-for-4 effort, including two doubles a stolen base and an RBI.  Kayla Boltz was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Alexis Wilson doubled to drive home a run. Ariel Petty had two RBIs. 

Brynn Hammett and Blair Campbell both pitched in the loss, each striking out one. 

Silver Lake went on to beat Rossville in the championship game 16-1 and will represent the Mid-East League in the state tournament that begins today in Topeka.
