At Flush, with a big second quarter, the Rock Creek Mustangs took control and beat Wabaunsee 67-39 on Friday.
The first quarter was tight as the Mustangs played to a 15-12 lead over the Chargers.
But in the second quarter, Rock Creek went on a run and outscored the Chargers 20-9 to build a 35-21 halftime lead.
The Mustangs outscored Wabaunsee 14-10 in the third quarter and 18-8 in the fourth to close out the game.
Lizz Herrs led the Mustangs in scoring with 19 points, while Shiann Bruce scored 14 and Bailey Elliott finished with 10.
RILEY COUNTY 34, SILVER LAKE 25
At Riley County, Kelly Thomson scored 11 points for the Riley County Falcons as they beat Silver Lake 34-25.
The Falcons trailed after three quarters, but held the Eagles scoreless in the fourth period to win the game by nine points.
It was 2-1 after one quarter, and Riley County led 14-12 at halftime. Silver Lake led 25-24 after the third quarter.
Thomson was the only player on either team in double figures, while Anteelah Phebus scored eight and Rachel Rheaume had seven for the Falcons.
ROCK CREEK 64, WABAUNSEE 32
At Flush, the Rock Creek boys’ scored 28 points in the second quarter to build a 41-21 halftime lead and kept on going in a 64-32 win.
The game was much closer in the first quarter as Rock Creek held a 13-8 lead, but the Mustangs outscored the Chargers 28-13.
Rock Creek outscored the Mustangs by nine points in the third quarter and three points in the fourth to put the game away.
The Mustangs were led in scoring by KJ Dobbins’ 14 points, while Aaron Kuecker scored 10 points.
RILEY COUNTY 64, SILVER LAKE 63 OT
At Riley County, in an exciting rivalry showdown in Riley County on Friday, the Falcons defeated Silver Lake in overtime, 64-63.
It was a rematch of a game in December that the Eagles took 56-51, but this time around it was the Falcons turn to win.
With the win, the Falcons are 6-3 on the season and 4-2 in Mid-East League play, with their only losses coming to Silver Lake and Rock Creek.
Riley County will open play in the Hillsboro Trojan Classic on Monday.
