Rock Creek moves back to 3A

By The Mercury

After a brief stint in Class 4A last year, the Rock Creek Mustangs are moving back to 3A in the most recent classifications released by KSHSAA on Friday.

With 247 students in grades 9-12, only Haven and Wichita Collegiate have more students among 3A teams.

For football purposes, KSHSAA counts only students in grades 9-11, leaving out seniors because the classifications are redone every other year. Rock Creek is 3A in football as well, and with 193 students is the largest 3A.

No other area teams were affected by the new classifications, and football districts for 2014-15 will be released in early October.
