Rock Creek JV splits triangular

The Rock Creek junior varsity softball team split a triangular on Saturday, beating Royal Valley 8-7 before losing to Washburn Rural 15-5.

The Mustangs trailed 7-2 against Royal Valley before scoring six unanswered to win the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Saige Biedenbender earned the win pitching in relief of Jayden Weers, who allowed six runs. Both struck out three.

Alexis McCormick went 3 for 3 in the game including the game-winning RBI single. Cassidy Cheeverm Carley Nelson, Weers and McCormick each doubled.

Rock Creek managed just seven hits in the second game, led by McCormick who went 2 for 3 with a double and a home run. Nelson doubled and Weers had a pair of hits.
