Rock Creek JV splits at Council Grove



The Rock Creek junior varsity softball team split a pair of games at Council Grove on Thursday.

Rock Creek beat Council Grove 14-4 in the first game and fell 16-6 in the second game.

The Mustangs scored 11 runs in the first three innings, led by a 4-for-4 game from Cassidy Cheever.

Jayden Weers got the win for the Mustangs, allowing four runs over five innings.

Olivia Lee and Veronica Valburg each had doubles off the fence.

Weers had three hits in the second game, but the Mustangs couldn’t keep up with the Council Grove offense.

Weers also took the loss, allowing 10 runs in three innings. Lee and Saige Biedenbender pitched in relief.

The Mustangs got a second-inning home run from Valburg, and run-scoring doubles from Dakota Nelson, Carley Nelson and Bethany Goehring.
