The Rock Creek junior varsity softball team swept Wamego in its season opener on Monday, beating the Red Raiders’ junior varsity team 11-3 and 17-7.
The Mustangs were led in the first game by Cassidy Cheever, who was 3 for 5 with two stolen bases. Olivia Lee had two hits four RBIs, while Bethany Goering had two hits and two RBIs.
Jayden Weers earned the win, allowing four hits and striking out five.
Rock Creek came back from an early deficit in the second game to win by 10 runs. Alexis Engelken was 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs. Cheever was 2 for 2 with two RBIS. Weers had two doubles and four RBIs and Lee had a triple and two RBIs.
Weers got the win in the cirle, sharing pitching duties with Saige Biedenbender.
