Rock Creek beats Jackson Heights

In the consolation semifinals of the 37th annual Hiawatha Girls Invitational, Rock Creek used a strong third quarter to wipe out a three-point halftime deficit and defeat Jackson Heights, 38-35, on Thursday.

The Mustangs led 34-28 going into the fourth quarter, where they held on for the close win.

Rock Creek (2-10, 1-5 Mid-East) was led by Sarah Altenhofen’s 11 points, with Winter Henry adding nine points and Alli Snapp scoring six.

The Mustangs play in Saturday’s fifth-place game against host-school Hiawatha at 11:30 a.m.
